A WORD ABOUT OUR CLUB...

The Sleepy Hollow German Shorthaired Pointer Club is an AKC sanctioned
Specialty Club that was formed in the early 1990's. We began as a small unit
of very dedicated GSP people. Over the years we have continued to grow
as we expand our horizons for the health and welfare of our breed.

Our club encourages and promotes the responsible breeding of the purebred
German Shorthaired Pointer. We urge Members and Breeders to accept the
standard of the GSP as approved by the American Kennel Club as the only
standard of excellence. The SHGSP Club conducts sanctioned and licensed
Specialty Breed Shows, Field Events and Obedience Trials under the regul-
ations as set forth by the AKC.

Most of all, the SHGSP club is about the knowledge and the exchange of
knowledge in the different areas of expertise and interest within out member-
ship.

HISTORY

( SEE EVENTS SCHEDULE FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION – MORE)

In the winter of 1997 we held our first Sanctioned, Independent Specialty Show. This was held in conjunction with the Monticello, NY Kennel Club.

On Sept. 20th, 1998 we held our first sanctioned, scheduled Hunting Test. This
former site was at the Layfayelleville Multiple Use Area in Pine Plains, New York.

The club has been active in Obedience classes, our club member Sandy Clark doing a great job and many have returned over the years with additional dogs to take advantage of her expertise.

Our club member, Jim Burns, has been instrumental in running handling classes which have proved to be most beneficial to all, judging by the many, many Finished Champions who have benefited along with their owners from his expertise.

We are growing, expanding our horizons and invite all interested parties to come to see us, attend a meeting, perhaps join us in the promotion and enjoyment of the German Shorthaired breed.
